On behalf of the Foxborough Founders Day Planning Committee and myself, Cindi Haddad-Drew, I would like to thank the Town of Foxboro for its gracious cooperation and understanding with the many changes that occurred on Founders Day this year.
What looked like it could have been a total washout turned out to be one of the most amazing Founders Day yet.
With the cooperation of the Police Department, Fire Department, Foxboro DPW and Debbie Spinelli our School Superintendent we were able to make it all happen and in a very short time.
The decision to move the parade later to 11 a.m. from 10 a.m. was made late Thursday evening and implemented on Friday morning, once we got the approval from the town officials.
After watching the weather as closely as we could, that was the only choice we could come up with to make the day work without being cancelled altogether.
The decision to move the field activities happened at 6:30 a.m. on Founders Day after measuring the water on top of the field making it unusable space for the day.
Getting the word out was the next hurdle to cross and with the help of our website, Facebook, and a Public Service announcement placed early that morning we were able to pull it off.
The overwhelming response that we have heard has been all positive. The parade was awesome, the activities that we had at the high school parking lot were great and the community flow into the booths made it all worth while.
Once things dried up we were able to have people set up on the Booth Field again for our annual amazing fireworks display.
This is what we mean with our banners that say “Community Coming Together”
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, and be on the lookout for next year’s Founders Day scheduled for June 7, 2014.
